Dr. Mihir Kakara, MBBS, is a Fellow in the Multiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders Division of the Department of Neurology at Penn. He grew up in India, and moved to the U.S. after completing medical school. He completed his Neurology Residency at Detroit Medical Center/Wayne State University in 2020, where he served as Chief Resident. He then moved to Philadelphia for his fellowship, during which he was involved in research assessing SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccine efficacy in people with MS who are immunosuppressed. His primary research interests are in understanding and addressing inequities in care for people with disabilities, and how it is affected by policy, with a focus on home and community-based services. He is also involved in efforts to incorporate disability-competent training in medical education and in making clinical spaces more accessible for people with disabilities.
