Daniel Holena, MD, MSCE, FACS

Assistant Professor of Surgery

Daniel Holena is an Assistant Professor of Surgery and Assistant Professor of Epidemiology in Biostatistics and Epidemiology at Penn. He is board certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. He received his General Surgery training at Cornell, and completed is fellowship in Trauma Surgery and Surgical Critical Care at Penn. He also received his MSCE from Penn's Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Dr. Holena specializes in the treatment of traumatic injury, emergency general surgery conditions, and surgical critical care. His research interests include outcomes after emergency general surgery and triage biomarkers in acute trauma. He studies the quality of care after injury, with a specific interest in the methodology used for risk-adjusting trauma morbidity, mortality, and failure to rescue.
