Robert D. Eilers Professor of Health Care Management

Daniel Polsky, Ph.D., is the Executive Director of the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics, Professor of Medicine in the School of Medicine and the Robert D. Eilers Professor of Health Care Management in the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.  He received a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania in May 1996 and a Master of Public Policy from the University of Michigan in 1989.  His research areas include access to health care, economics of the physician workforce, and economic evaluation of medical and behavioral health interventions. His research was awarded AcademyHealth’s Article of the Year in 2014. He serves on the Congressional Budget Office’s Panel of Health Advisers.  He sits on the National Academy of Science, Engineering, and Medicine’s Health and Medicine Committee as well as its Board on Population Health and Public Health Practice.  He is an associate editor at Health Economics and serves on the editorial board of several journals including Health Services Research and Medical Care Research and Review.  He was the Senior Economist on health issues at the President’s Council of Economic Advisers in 2007-08.   He is a coauthor of the book “Economic Evaluation in Clinical Trials” recently published by Oxford University Press.
