The Center for Healthcare Improvement and Patient Safety (CHIPS) and the Master of Science in Health Policy Research (MSHP) at the University of Pennsylvania invite applications to the MSHP program with a Concentration in Healthcare Quality and Safety. This two-year program combines health services research and policy training with formal and experiential training in quality improvement and patient safety methods. The program will specifically prepare graduates for careers in health services research and health policy related to healthcare improvement in academic, government, and community settings and for leadership positions in healthcare quality and safety operations. Graduates receive a Master of Science in Health Policy Research (MSHP) from Penn with a concentration in health care quality and safety. An outline of the program curriculum is illustrated below
Who is eligible to apply?
Applicants will be physicians interested in applying the research methods and quality improvement methods to study, understand, and improve the quality and safety of patient care and the health care delivery system. The program can also be completed as part of a two-year research component of a fellowship or residency.

Applicants should clearly indicate their interest in applying for the CHIPS concentration when drafting their personal statement and submitting their MSHP application.
